Things to know about the 2017 World’s Expo in Astana
The World’s Expo 2017 is going to be held in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event will take place from 10th June to 10th September 2017. It is specifically arranged to focus on energy solutions. The main purpose of the Expo is to create awareness amongst countries and non-governmental organisations about the safe access to energy.
The subtitle of the Expo is “Solutions for Tackling Humankind’s Greatest Challenge”. The event will put forward social, economic and environmental challenges. Moreover, the solutions to face those challenges will also be highlighted. The theme of the Expo is “Future Energy” which is further divided into the following subthemes:
- Reducing CO2 emissions
- Living energy efficiency
- Energy for all
Expo 2017 is a part of the World’s Fair System. It is one of the recognised expos that revolve around a specific theme. On November 22, 2012, Astana was selected as the venue for Expo 2017 by International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE). 100 countries and more than 10 international organisations confirmed their participation in the event. And it is expected that the number of visitors would reach to 5 million.
The Expo will come with a knowledgeable theme that will put a light on the problems and promote global energy solutions to resolve them. The main objective of the event is to make people realise their role in controlling energy consumption to make the world a better place.
Projects launched in the preparation of Expo 2017
Various projects are launched in the preparation of the event. The projects are named as “smart city” projects and are focused on introducing digital technologies in education, payment and healthcare sectors.
Multinational companies such as Samsung, Cisco Systems and Shell will sponsor the event. Moreover, NCOC, JSC Kazkommertsbank, JSC Kazpochta and Air Astana are the Kazakh sponsors.
